What Is An UHF Antenna?

A UHF antenna is an antenna that is designed to receive and transmit signals in the ultra-high-frequency range. This range includes frequencies from 300 MHz to 3 GHz.UHF antennas are commonly used in two-way radios, cellular phones, and broadcast television. Two-way radios typically use UHF frequencies for communication between units. Cellular phones use UHF frequencies for communication with cell towers. Broadcast television uses UHF frequencies for the transmission of signals to televisions.

A UHF can be either a dipole antenna or a monopole antenna. A dipole antenna consists of two metal rods that are each one-quarter wavelength long. The rods are connected at the center, and the resulting structure resembles a “V” shape. A monopole antenna consists of a single metal rod that is one-quarter wavelength long. The rod is connected to a ground plane, typically a sheet of metal.

The most common type of UHF antenna is the yagi antenna. The yagi antenna consists of a stack of metal rods, called elements, that are arranged in such a way that they amplify the signal in a specific direction. Yagi antennas are used for both transmitting and receiving signals.
