The Renaissance: How Art and Ideas Changed History

During the Renaissance era years, Europe experienced a time of great change. Art, science, and ideas flourished with renewed interest in ancient Greek and Roman cultures. The Renaissance, which spanned from the 14th to the 17th century, was a period of intense creativity and curiosity.

Artists like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo created masterpieces in painting, sculpture, and architecture. They used new techniques, such as using shadows to give depth to images, and perspective to make paintings appear three-dimensional.

Expanding on past knowledge, Renaissance scientists made strides in anatomy, physics, and astronomy. Galileo Galilei, a famous astronomer, invented the telescope and discovered new planets.

The Renaissance also brought a focus on humanism. This concept emphasized the importance of individuals’ potential and their ability to think critically. Combined with the development of the printing press, this emphasis propelled knowledge and ideas forward.

Today, we still feel the effects of the Renaissance. Its art, science, and ideas launched a period of innovation and progress that continues to influence us today.
