The Importance of Supporting Your Baby’s Tummy Time

Tummy time support is crucial for your little one’s growth and development. It helps build strength in the muscles supporting the head, neck, and upper body, which is essential for reaching milestones such as crawling and walking.

To provide adequate support during tummy time, start by placing your baby on a firm and comfortable surface, such as a play mat or a blanket. You can use a rolled-up towel or a cushion to lift their chest slightly, allowing them to see their surroundings and engage with toys.

It’s important to start tummy time as early as possible, ideally around two weeks after birth, and gradually increase the duration and frequency as your baby grows stronger. Aim for three to five sessions of tummy time of about three to five minutes each, spread throughout the day.

Not all babies enjoy tummy time, and some may fuss or cry at first. However, with patience and encouragement, most will learn to tolerate and even enjoy it. You can make tummy time more fun and stimulating by using toys, mirrors, or singing songs.

Remember to always supervise your baby during tummy time and avoid leaving them unattended. With consistent tummy time support, your baby will develop the strength and skills necessary to reach exciting milestones and grow into a happy and healthy child.
