Screen Print T Shirts: Everything You Need To Know

Screen print t shirts are a popular way to display graphics and logos. They are often used for corporate events, team uniforms, and promotional materials. You need to know a few things before you start screen printing your own t-shirts.

Screen printing is a stencil-based process that uses a screen to transfer ink onto fabric. The screen is made of a fine mesh stretched over a frame. The design is created by blocking out screen areas with a resist material, such as photo emulsion or digital film. Ink is then placed on the screen and pulled through the mesh with a squeegee. The ink passes through the open areas of the screen and is deposited onto the fabric.

Two main types of screens can be used for printing: photo emulsion and digital screens. Photo emulsion screens are coated with a light-sensitive material. The design is created by exposing the screen to light through a negative film. The areas of the screen that are exposed to light harden, while the areas that are blocked from exposure remain soft. Once the screen is washed, the soft areas are washed away, leaving only the design.

Digital screens are created with a computer-aided design (CAD) program. The design is printed onto a clear film, which is then placed on the screen. The screen is then exposed to light, which hardens the areas that are not blocked by the film. Once the screen is washed, the unhardened areas are washed away, leaving only the design.

Screen printing can be done by hand or with a machine. If you are doing it by hand, you will need a screen, a squeegee, and ink. If you are using a machine, the machine will do most of the work for you.

Screen printing is a great way to personalize t-shirts. You can create your own design or have someone else create one for you.
